I have blue socks. I blame cheap shoes and a wet day. And breaking chopsticks along the centre line does bring good luck! after a very large amount of them were broken (mostly unsuccessfully), and the phonecall saying that we (me and a group of 5 other people. you know who you are.) were one step away from being able to live in a house next year. It wasn't our first choice, but we did break a fair few chopsticks unsuccessfuly...

I might as well at least mention them this year. By taking a stab at who's going to win what...

Best Album - Black holes & Revelations - Muse. (close between them and the Arctic Monkeys. Hopefully MCR will be nowhere near.)

Best British Band - Arctic Monkeys. (again close between them and Muse, although realistically anyone could walk away with this one...)

Best International Band - The Killers (again, hopefully not MCR. Any of the other 4 would be fine with me.)

Best Solo Artist - Thom Yorke (just so long as it's not Lily Allen. Personally I would like Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. to win, but I reckon Thom Yorke is in with a much better chance.

Best New Band - The Kooks (Unfortunately. It'll be either them or Klaxons... I'd like either The Fratellis or The View to win (both of whom have/are playing at UEA, and both were sold out by the time I got to the box office...)

Best Live Band - Muse ('nuff said.)

Best Track - Bang Bang You're Dead - Dirty Pretty Things (I have all 5 of these tracks in various forms, and thus have chosen my personal favorite. although I wouldn't be surprised at all if Klaxons walked away with this one...)

Best Music DVD - Skin And Bones - Foo Fighters (I must admit I have no idea about this one, so I chos the one I had heard of...)

Anywho, knowing me, none of these predictions will be correct, but at least there's a pretty good line up this year, apart from MCR, Lily Allen, MCR, The Kooks, MCR and MCR.

I have TV. and a spiffy new freeview box. That's about it. TV has destroyed the remnants of what I once called a life. seriously! I've only had 2 proper meals in the last 4 days! and one of those was a 2 minute deely in the microwave! Anywho, Hope everyone had a happy Australia day, and Burns night. i just think that it's a shame this has to end. because it rocks. a lot. and for some reason, the loss of one webcomic off of the internet has suddenly made me feel all nostalgic... i feel as though i've got a constant lump in my throat or something... weird. I've been listening to all my music that I havn't played in ages and looking through my old bookmarks and the such... I've been In a weird mood since i saw such ending animation at 4am just after i got up... the smallest things can set off such weird emotions...

The things i do to avoid doing coursework. that I've barely started... and that's due in on Wednesday... maybe I'll get some done tomorrow. Although I said that last night... and the night before...

everyone i know with an iPod has complained about it at some point about it breaking, they're just so unreliable, whereas the one I have at the moment (the Packard Bell AudioDream) is pretty reliable, except the random turning off every now and again... and the capacity is far too small. Anyway, enough of my rambling, I just thought i'd say that iPods suck. get something else. for me preferably.

Since I made such an unnecessary fuss of the Brits, I think its only fair to at least mention the NME awards...

Well done Arctic Monkeys on picking up three (possibly four) well deserved awards! I wholeheartedly agree that I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor Is one of the best singles this year... possibly only beaten by When the sun goes down... Nice to see that The Strokes won something, because their album rocks (as if i havn't said that before...).

Talking of albums, I bought With Love and Squalor (We are scientists) yesterday, mainly because of The Love poured on the band by certain people. And its brilliant too.

At least most of the Brits Winners are good. I was so relieved to hear that the Arctic Monkeys had beat James Blunt. That was a case of Common Sense beating stupidity if ever i saw one...

Why is it that James Blunt gets 5 nominations for the Brits?! Are the public really this stupid? And how did Amarillo make it anywhere near the best singles nominations? Especially when there are so many other great songs that missed out (Random Examples - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Do You Want To, I Predict A Riot). Those singles nominations are an insult to british music. Although on a nicer note, it is good to see that there were a number of nominations for bands that deserve to be there, like Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs and Hard-Fi (and they managed to sneak the Arctic Monkeys in there somewhere. They'll be in there more next year I'm sure).
Oh, And another thing, how the hell did Kanye get nominated for best Album? I thought albums had to have Music on them, and Rap is not music.

G'Day! So it finally happened. I finally caved in and got a proper blog. Well I better make good use of it then...
The first thing I must do is just alert everyone to the fact that tomorrow is our Geography teacher (and Legend) Dr Shepherd's Official Bitrthday (he won't tell us when his real one is). There will be cake and everything. Tomorrow, 9:00, E14. Be There. In case you're wondering why today, It's the same day we did it last year (the first time). we were on a geography trip to Norfolk, got bored, so we had a birthday party for Dr Shepherd. We even bought a £20 Queen CD especially for the occasion, just for Another One Bites The Dust (He once claimed to have appeared on Gladiators, leading to many jokes about the program and his physique. And then there was the Wolf Figurine... Lots of fun there). He got a sword (Gladiators again), some rocks (because Geology Rocks!) and a card. And there were ballons. This year we plan on giving him the Team America DVD, more rocks and a cake. As well as Bunting. He's so much of a legend he deserves it.
Anyway, thats enough about Dr Shepherd (for you that is. If you met him you would never have enough of him. He's even a specialist subject for one of his students/worshippers in the Charity mastermind at school). Let's talk about something else... hows about... What I've been up to this year...
So far... not a lot. This is because I've had tests by the barrelfull at school, first there were last years resits, and now Mocks... but I've been drawing stuff (see DeviantArt), it's just all been crap. Anyway, another thing I've been doing is buying more CDs this month than I did all last year. So far that's 2 then. But a good 2. The Strokes (First Impressions Of Earth) and Arctic Monkeys (Whatever People say I Am, That's What I'm Not. Honestly, what is it with bands at the moment and long song and album names...). Got both of them the day they were released off of Amazon (who deliver things days before they say the estimate O_o ). When I got First Impressions of Earth, Initially I thought it was an OK album, but it didn't really deserve the rave reviews it got on Amazon, but after a few more listens, it gradually became quite possibly my favorite album of all time, with even the weakest song (in my opinion) - Fear Of Sleep, still extremely good. Can't say a bad word about the album at all! And i even went and found the little bit of text on ever page of the insert. all very insightful. Which is one of the things that was slightly wrong with Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. There were no printed lyrics whatsoever. The other thing... well, to be honest, there wasn't really anything else wrong with the album at all. I won't compare it to the Strokes yet, as I have not listened to it enough for a fair comparison yet (It is good after first listening though), but I have high hopes for another album which carries high expectations...
